Senator Bob Ballinger was elected to the Senate in 2018.  He represents District 5, which includes parts of Carroll, Crawford, Franklin, Johnson, Sebastian and Washington Counties and all of Madison County. 

Senator Ballinger is Senate co-chair of the Joint Energy Committee and Senate Co-Chair of the Joint Budget Claims Review Committee.

He is the vice chair of the ALC subcommittee on Game and Fish / State Police.  He is a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, the Senate State Agencies and Governmental Affairs Committee, the Joint Budget Committee and the Legislative Council.

He served in the House of Representatives from 2013 through 2018.  As a House member he chaired the State Agencies and Governmental Affairs Committee.

In the 2021 regular session, Senator Ballinger sponsored bills on the use of deadly physical force, eminent domain by state agencies, collective bargaining rights of state employees and the Transportation Department sales of surplus property.

Senator Ballinger also co-sponsored pro-life bills.  An attorney, Senator Ballinger sponsored legislation that made technical corrections to the Arkansas Code. 

Senator lives in Ozark. He graduated from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, where he served as President of Phi Alpha Theta (a historical honor society) and was a member of the Redmen Football team. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with his BA in Social Studies.  He taught and coached in the public schools of Sapulpa, Oklahoma.

He earned his J.D. degree from the University of Arkansas Law School at Fayetteville, where he was a member of the Law Review, a recipient of the Charles Thomas Pearson Fellowship for promoting Professional Ethics in the Legal Profession and served as Executive V.P. of the Federalist Society. He received the Legal Research & Writing II Top Oral Argument Award. 

Senator Ballinger has been a member of the Kiwanis Club and the Berryville Chamber of Commerce, where he served as President in 2011.  He and his wife, Jessica, have three sons and five daughters.  Senator Ballinger is a Baptist and a leader in his church’s ministry to help people free themselves from addiction.
