Senator Joshua Bryant of Rogers was elected to the Senate in 2022 and was sworn on January 9, 2023. He represents District 32, which includes the eastern third of Benton County and the northeast part of Washington County.
Senator Bryant is Senate vice chair of the Joint Budget Committee, the Legislative Joint Auditing State Agencies Subcommittee and the ALC-Hospital, Medicaid and Developmental Disabilities Study Subcommittee. He is chair of the Senate City, County and Local Affairs Committee. He is a member of the Senate Education Committee, the Senate Transportation, Technology and Legislative Affairs Committee, the Joint Performance Review Committee, the Legislative Council and the Legislative Joint Auditing Committee.
Senator Bryant served one term in the Arkansas House of Representatives from 2021 through 2022, he was on the House Public Transportation Committee and House City, County and Local Affairs Committee.
During the 95th General Assembly, Senator Bryant sponsored Acr 137 to add second degree murder to the list of offenses for which an inmate cannot earn a meritorious furlough. He sponsored Acts 664, 665, 666 and 667 to battle human trafficking. They provide for mandatory restitution to victims of human trafficking, allow victims to sue perpetrators for up to 10 years, to provide mandatory no-contact orders in human trafficking cases and to allow forfeiture of assets used in trafficking.
Senator Bryant sponsored Act 424 to mandate insurance coverage for breast reconstruction surgeries.
In 2023, Senator Bryant sponsored legislation to allow municipalities to state by resolution if they have a pro-life policy, and legislation prohibiting school districts from collecting membership fees for labor organizations on behalf of school staff.
Senator Bryant is a graduate from BCCS in Rogers in 1996. After graduation he joined the United States Marine Corps and served five years, reaching the rank of Sergeant. He then worked for 12 years for the Federal Aviation Administration. In 2014, he joined a construction venture and together with his business partner grew the company into one of the most successful firms in Northwest Arkansas.
Senator Bryant has been married to his wife, Jill, for more than 25 years. They have two children. They attend Engaged Ministries Church in Lowell.
